Featuring a special presentation of music from "The Sounds of Concord"

The "Sounds of Concord" has been entertaining audiences for over 35 years It is one of New England's top-ranked male vocal ensembles. Their singing is primarily in the barbershop style, that original American musical form combining four-part close harmony with rich melody sound and lots of emotion. The repertoire includes ballads sung from the heart as well as toetappers and swing melodies that instantly put a smile on your face.

Their songs range from traditional barbershop to tunes from stage and screen, gospel songs and spirituals, folk tunes, and patriotic songs. Sounds of Concord performances are usually punctuated by choreography so you're not just seeing a bunch of guys standing on risers reading sheet music.

Sounds of Concord is a chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society, (formerly known as SPEBSQSA, lnc.) Our members come from all walks of life, but along with over 28,000 other barbershoppers, they share a passion for fellowship, making good music together and entertaining audiences. SOC rehearses every Thursday evening at 7:30 p.m. at Temple Emunah in Lexington, MA, and guests are always welcome.

We enjoyed a number of selections from the chorus. I do not remember the titles correctly, but some of the music was "Consider Yourself", "Come Fly With Me", "Rock Me to a Ragtime Lullaby". Some of the Christmas season songs were: "Silent Night", "Angels We Have Heard on High", "O Holy Night", "Let It Snow", "Jingle Bell Rock", "In My Room", "It Came Upon a Midnight Clear", and a "Winter Wonderland".
