About the Program
October's program featured the Saengerfest Men's
Chorus
of 65 voices. The chorus was founded in 1991 among members of a century-old men's
musical/social group that continues to meet quarterly. Their motto is “We
perform to help others, we sing to help ourselves...”
Michael Driscoll has been directing the chorus since October 2001. He is a graduate
student at the New England Conservatory of Music. Mr. Driscoll is a graduate
of Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) where he directed a 14 member a capella
group for three years and sang with the WPI's Men's Glee Club for seven years.
The chorus has been accompanied by James L. Roth since 1993. Mr. Roth has been the Director of Music for the Reading, MA public schools and the conductor of the Reading Symphony Orchestra.
