BusinessThe Program Speaker is the Honorable William G. Young, U.S. District Court JudgeJudge Young, was nominated by President Ronald Reagan on March 8, 1985. He was confirmed by the Senate on April 3, 1985, and received his commission on April 4, 1985. He served as Chief Judge, 1999 - 2005. Prior to serving as the U.S. District Judge, he was an Associate justice, Superior Court of Massachusetts from 1978 to 1985. He has also lectured in law at Boston College, Boston University, and Harvard Law School. He practiced law in a private practice in Boston and in public service as a special assistant attorney general of Massachusetts, and as chief counsel for the Governor of Massachusetts. Judge Young is a graduate of Harvard University and Harvard Law School. His talk stressed the importance of the jury. How the jury member is a one of six constitutional officers prescribed in the American Constitution. Each branch of the government has two constitutional officers - Executive branch has the President and the Vice President, Legislative branch has Representatives and Senators, and the Judicial branch has Judges and Jurors.
