H.Y.P.E.

Summary

City Mission Society's (CMS) Humboldt Youth Partnering for Empowerment (H.Y.P.E) program targets at-risk youth aged 8 - 20. HYPE is a cooperative effort among CMS and four churches located in the Humboldt Avenue neighborhood of Roxbury/Dorchester. The objective of the program is to provide a summer program to get at-risk youth off the streets and into positive settings for personal growth. Since then, CMS has strategically restructured its Youth Violence Prevention programs to reach youth aged 8 - 24 through age-appropriate curricula through several different program components, including the new HYPE after school program, which will serve a targeted group of youth drawn largely from the HYPE summer program. CMS's mission for these programs remains to leverage community-based resources to combat youth violence by providing opportunties for transformation to individuals and communities. The HYPE summer program remains the cornerstone for these programs.

Partnering with CMS Bethel Pentecostal Church, Greater Generations Tabernacle Church, Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, St. Mark Congregational Church. The combination ensures that the program is driven by the needs of the area as perceived by the area residents themselves.
