Dan Shaunessy has been a member of The Boston Globe staff since 1981. Dan has been named Massachusetts Sportswriter of the Year eleven times and nine times has been voted one of America's top 10 sports columnists by AP Sports Editors. He has written twelve books, including New York Times Best Seller Francona, The Curse of the Bambino, and Senior Year, and appears on numerous radio and television shows. He also popularized the phrase “Red Sox Nation.” Dan was the last writer to interview Ted Williams, in 2002, and had exclusive access to Williams in his final years. He was also elected the 2016 winner of the J.G. Taylor Spink Award that is presented annually to a sportswriter for “meritorious contributions to baseball writing.”
The Beverly boys of Brass are a group of instrumentalists from Beverly High School in Beverly, MA. They have been together sine their formation in January of 2014 and have played at events on the North Shore ever since. Members include Arich Soferr and Eli Chambers on trumpet, Timothy Johnson on french horn, Jonathan Soferr on trombone, and Jake Kielty on tuba.
