Presentation“Norman Rockwell - Master Painter and Illustrator”

About the Speaker

Professor Michael Carter of Wentworth Institute of Technology will present a lecture and slide presentation on master painter and illustrator Norman Rockwell. Norman Rockwell is most famous for his covers of the Saturday Evening Post. Many of his works are display at the museum in Stockbridge, MA. The Saturday Evening Post website has a gallery of the covers Norman Rockwell did for the magazine.

Norman Rockland was the premier illustrator for Boy's Life magazine, the Boy Scouts of America's major publication. His Four Freedoms posters are still selling briskly today.

Leaving the Post after four decades in 1963, Rockwell went to work for Look Magazine. He then started to paint more contemporary and controversial scenes, many to do with the then burgeoning Civil Rights Movement. He was a highly sought after portraitist.
