Poet James Haug was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1954. His books include Riverain, Legend of the Recent Past, Walking Liberty and The Stolen Car. Haug is a master at making the mundane magical and the mystical common. His plain-spoken encounters with the denizens of the river valley never succumb to the burden of expectations, for they, like the river, are joyfully unpredicatable and alive. Haug teaches at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He lives in Northampton, Massachusetts with his wife and family.
