Presentation: Andover Newton: “Writing The Next Chapter”

Rev. Dr. Martin B. Copenhaver, President of Andover Newton Theological School will share his vision of the role of Andover Newton in the coming years.

About The Speaker

Martin B. Copenhaver in the President of Andover Newton Theological School (ANTS). Prior to becoming presidnet in June 2014, Martin served for ten years on the Board of Trustees for ANTS. Martin is a magna cum laude graduate of Dickinson College Carlisle, PA and received his Master of Divinity from Yale University Divinty School in 1980. Martin served as a visiting scholar at Duke University during the Spring semester of 1990.

Upon graduation from Yale, Martin was awarded the Mesick Prize for preaching, and subseqently has had many sermons published in the Harper & Row Best Sermons series. He has been a regular columnist for newspapers in Burlington and Phoenix, and has published over a hundred articles in a variety of periodicals. He also serves as Editor at Large for The Christian Century and as a member of the Board of Advisors of Yale Divinity School.

Martin is married to Karen Foulds Copenhaver, a partner at Choate Hall & Stewart, LLP. They have two children: Alanna, an ordained minister in the United Church of Christ who serves as Fellow at Harvard's Memorial Church; and Todd, a research analyst in the credit sector.

About The Music

Patrick Ian Jackson, bass-baritone, is an Andover Newton Master of Divinity Candidate, who will graduate in May 2017. He answered God's call to ministry after spending eight years on Capitol Hill and several years as a business attorney. Patrick currently serves as the Andover Newton Student Association President and as a seminarian at Harvard University's Memorial Church.

Adam Isbitsky, pianist, is completing his second year of study at Andover Newton and currently serves as Treasurer of Andover Newton Student Association. He remains active in the performing arts as a producer, music director, singer, keyboardist, and actor. He is the Managing director of Next Generation Theatre Company, a non-profit children's theatre organization based in Needham, MA that he co-founded in 2012.
